-Tidalwaves in My Heart-

Grace Micheletti '22, Literary guest writer

Out of the gazillion things in my brain,

how could one person make such a change?

You single-handedly caused tidalwaves in my heart.

I find it quite weird,

the fact that I can’t help but hold you so dear,

Even though

You caused title waves in my heart.

Now I’m a sailor crossing oceans of emotions for you.

Drowning in thoughtless theories of ways to make you mine.

I was the captain of a mighty ship,

sailing the seas as I please,

But now I’m stuck in a storm.

It’s Filled with gusts of your breath

And heaving downpours of your tears,

Your eyes are dark and misty blocking my sight.

The walls of my ship.

ones that I labored building up with remorseful heartbreak.

Broken and torn down,

landlocked on your island.

There’s a lump in my throat,

And a limp in my step,

as I explore your elements.

I am water.

And you,

fire.

If I were to reach out and touch you,

all that I’ve made of myself

would evaporate.

But I will be alright,

Enamored as you flicker and light my way.

Instead of being scorched as I noticed your flame,

You caused tidalwaves in my heart.
